Wood frame is less expensive than concrete block construction. Wood is sturdy enough to meet the building code requirements. It does require more maintenance than block. Wood structures and fall prey to rot if not painted regularly.
Concrete block structures tend to last longer than wood. The cost in materials between wood and block may be roughly the same. It is a lot more time consuming to form the concrete and place the steel. Hence, the finished cost is more.
Windows in an Addition, Florida Room or Sunroom
You can have as many windows that you want. they can be of an configuration. Keep in mind window space is more expensive than wall space. Even high efficiency windows allow more heat in than wall space. You can save money by selecting none-impact windows. But, you will need to add hurricane shutters. In the end none-impact windows plus hurricane shutters cost basically the as impact windows. We advice to purchase impact windows.
